How an alternating air mattress prevents pressure injuries
Lying still concentrates body weight onto a handful of contact points — heels, hips, the sacrum, shoulders, the back of the head. When circulation to those points is cut off for long enough, the skin and the tissue beneath it begin to break down. An alternating air mattress interrupts that process mechanically: rows of air cells inflate and deflate on a programmed cycle, so no single area carries sustained pressure. The load keeps moving even when the person can't.

For older Territorians, the Support at Home program funds equipment through its Assistive Technology and Home Modifications (AT-HM) scheme. Do you deliver pressure-care equipment across the NT, including remote communities?
