How we write and check what’s on this site
Sleep Sophie publishes articles about adjustable beds, lift recliners and the health conditions they can help with. Here’s exactly how those articles get written, checked and kept accurate — no more, no less than what actually happens.
Who writes our content
Articles on this site are written and edited by the Sleep Sophie team, against direction from founder & CEO Nathan Kerrins. Every post carries a real, named byline linked to a bio page — not "Admin" or "Staff" — so you know exactly who stands behind what you're reading.
Product claims are checked against source documents
Specifications, materials and performance figures are checked against manufacturer datasheets — the Layers of Mattress and Hygroflex® sheets — and the independent testing report commissioned from RMIT University's School of Engineering. Where a figure isn't in those source documents, we don't publish it, round it up, or compare it to an unnamed "other mattress."
Country-of-origin claims follow the law, product by product
“Australian made” is a regulated claim under the Australian Consumer Law. We only use it for the mattress — the one product genuinely made here — and never as a blanket claim covering beds, chairs or air mattresses, which are not manufactured in Australia.
Medical device and NDIS claims are scoped to what's actually registered
Sleep Sophie is a registered NDIS provider, and our adjustable beds and lift recliner chairs are covered by ARTG entry 326115 for their massage function. We only apply “NDIS” or “ARTG-registered” wording to products that actually hold that status, and we don't imply the NDIS approves or vets a product outright.
Health information is general, not personalised advice
Beds, chairs and mattresses can make a real difference to comfort, pressure and independence — but every article discussing a health condition carries a plain disclaimer: this is general information, not medical advice, and readers should talk to their GP or occupational therapist about their own situation. We don't claim a clinical reviewer we don't have, and we don't retain customers' health records.
Real photography, honestly labelled
Product photos are our own — shot for Sleep Sophie and owned in the company's photo library. Where we use a generated image for a concept we haven't photographed, it never depicts a Sophie product a reader could mistake for the real thing, and alt text describes what's actually in the frame. This is enforced automatically at build time.
Reviews are never fabricated or marked up as our own
We don't invent testimonials or star ratings. Where an aggregate rating from a third-party site (like ProductReview.com.au) is mentioned, it's shown as plain text with no structured-data markup — consistent with search engines' review-snippet guidelines — and no individual review is quoted without the owner's sign-off for that specific use.
Pages are dated, and updates are marked
Every article shows its original publish date, and if it's substantively revised the page shows an “Updated” date alongside it. Spotted something out of date or incorrect? Tell us — see the contact details below.
About the author
Articles are bylined to Nathan Kerrins, founder & CEO of Sleep Sophie. Nathan isn’t a clinician, and we don’t claim a medical reviewer we don’t have — instead, every health-related article carries a clear disclaimer directing readers to their GP or occupational therapist for advice on their own situation.
