Support at Home can fund your bed, chair and pressure care.
The Support at Home program replaced Home Care Packages in November 2025 — and its Assistive Technology scheme means equipment now has its own funding, separate from your care budget. We’ve helped thousands of older Australians through the process: quotes, paperwork, chats with your occupational therapist (OT), the lot.
How Support at Home funding works — four simple steps
- 1
Chat with us about what you need
Call 1300 9 SLEEP or enquire online. We'll talk through your situation — sleep, mobility, transfers, pressure care — and recommend the right equipment. No obligation.
- 2
Your aged care assessment covers equipment
Your My Aged Care assessment includes the Assistive Technology and Home Modifications (AT-HM) scheme. If equipment would help you stay independent at home, you can be approved for a funding tier.
- 3
We prepare quotes & work with your provider
We put together the formal quote and product information your provider, care partner or occupational therapist needs — and we're happy to talk with them directly. We invoice your provider, not you.
- 4
Free delivery & installation
We deliver, assemble and demonstrate everything in your home, anywhere in Australia, at no charge. You sleep smarter that same night.
What can the AT-HM scheme fund?
The Assistive Technology and Home Modifications scheme funds equipment that keeps you safe, mobile and independent at home. Every Sophie product qualifies as assistive technology.
Good to know about AT-HM funding
- Equipment funding is separate from your quarterly care budget — a bed doesn’t compete with your cleaning or nursing hours.
- The high tier covers equipment up to $15,390 — every Sophie product, including installation, sits within it.
- On the NDIS instead? See our NDIS funding guide. Self-funding? Our prices stay a fraction of the big European brands — funding or not.
Support at Home questions, answered
What is the Support at Home program?
Support at Home is the Australian Government's in-home aged care program, delivered through My Aged Care. It started on 1 November 2025 and replaced Home Care Packages. It funds the services and equipment that help older Australians stay safe and independent in their own homes.
Can Support at Home pay for an adjustable bed?
Yes. Under Support at Home, equipment is funded through the Assistive Technology and Home Modifications (AT-HM) scheme — a dedicated funding stream separate from your quarterly care budget. Adjustable beds, hi-lo beds, lift recliners and pressure-care mattresses are exactly the kind of assistive technology the scheme exists for.
How much assistive technology funding can I get?
Your aged care assessment approves you for an AT-HM funding tier based on your needs. The high tier covers equipment up to $15,390, with a clinical assessment (usually an occupational therapist) supporting the recommendation — and higher amounts can be approved where assessed needs require it. Every Sophie product sits comfortably within the high tier.
I had a Home Care Package — what changed?
Home Care Package recipients were moved across to Support at Home automatically from 1 November 2025. No one was left worse off by the change. The biggest improvement for equipment is the AT-HM scheme: you no longer need to save up your package budget for months to afford a bed — assistive technology has its own funding.
Do I need an occupational therapist?
For equipment at the level of an adjustable bed, a clinical assessment usually supports the funding — most often from an OT. If you have one, we're happy to talk specs with them directly. If you don't, ask your provider or call us and we'll point you in the right direction.
How long do I have to use my AT-HM funding?
In most cases AT-HM funding is available for 12 months from signing your service agreement. People with progressive conditions such as Parkinson's or motor neurone disease automatically receive longer. Our advice: don't let the window close on equipment that would change your nights — the process is faster than most people expect.
