Sophie Maxx Mattress

A deeper, firmer mattress for people who need more support than a standard mattress can give. The Sophie Maxx is 25cm of Australian-made foam, designed for people from 160kg to 300kg.

Compared with a standard mattress, the Maxx has firmer support underneath, firm foam edges for sitting and transfers, and an RMIT-tested Hygroflex® comfort layer, so the person on it stays properly supported.

Built for comfort. Backed by real credentials.

Designed for 160kg to 300kg

Made for a weight range that a standard mattress isn't designed to carry, with firmer support underneath you.

Australian made

Made right here in Australia, with local craftsmanship and quality control, and a shorter supply chain to your door.

RMIT-tested Hygroflex® comfort layer

In independent testing by RMIT University, Hygroflex® reduced pressure on the body up to 32% better than traditional memory foam.

Firm edge support

Firm foam edges give you stability when you sit on the side of the bed, and a steadier base for transfers.

Bends with an adjustable base

Profile cuts along the edges let the mattress follow an adjustable base as the head and foot sections rise.

Water-resistant, removable cover

Water-resistant zips, an antimicrobial additive in the coating, and a cover built to withstand regular cleaning.

Who is it for?

  • People from 160kg to 300kg

If a standard mattress sags, bottoms out or feels unstable under you, the Maxx is designed for your weight range.

  • Anyone who sits on the edge to get up

Firm edges give you something solid to push up from, and a steadier platform when a carer helps with transfers.

  • Adjustable bed owners

Profile-cut edges let the Maxx bend with the base. Check the base's weight rating suits you: the Sophie Adjustable Bed is rated to 320kg.

  • Carers looking after someone at home

A removable, water-resistant cover built for regular cleaning makes day-to-day hygiene easier.

What makes the Sophie Maxx different?

A standard mattress is designed around an average body weight. Above that range, softer foams compress further, the edges give way when you sit on them, and the whole surface can feel less stable. The Maxx is built for the load from the start.

The Sophie Maxx is 25cm deep and designed for people from 160kg to 300kg. A Hygroflex® comfort layer sits over supportive foam, framed by firm foam edges, and the whole mattress is made here in Australia.

Using it on an adjustable base? Profile cuts along the edges let it bend as the base moves. Our electric adjustable beds are rated to 320kg, and we’ll help you match the mattress and base to the person using them.

Hygroflex®, independently tested by RMIT

Hygroflex® is a high-resilience comfort foam that combines the body-contouring feel of memory foam with the bounce-back of latex. Unlike memory foam, it holds a steady firmness across room and body temperatures.

RMIT University’s School of Engineering independently tested Hygroflex® against four different memory foams. Read how the testing worked. Compared with traditional memory foam, the Hygroflex® layer:

  • Conforms to the body up to 67% better than traditional memory foam
  • Reduces pressure on the body up to 32% better than traditional memory foam
  • Dissipates heat up to 27% faster than traditional memory foam
  • Takes less than half the force to roll over or change position, compared with memory foam

Common questions

Who is the Sophie Maxx designed for?

People from 160kg to 300kg. If you're under 160kg, talk to us first: one of our standard Australian-made mattresses is likely to suit you better.

Is the Sophie Maxx Australian made?

Yes. The Maxx is made here in Australia, like every Sophie foam mattress.

Will it work on an adjustable bed?

Yes. Profile cuts along the edges let the mattress bend as an adjustable base raises and lowers. Just check the base's weight rating suits the person using it: the Sophie Adjustable Bed is rated to 320kg and the Sophie HiLo to 250kg. We'll help you match the two.

How do I keep the cover clean?

The cover is water-resistant, with water-resistant zips, and is built to withstand regular cleaning. When it needs more than a wipe-down, it unzips and comes off completely.

Can the NDIS or Support at Home fund it?

It can be, where an occupational therapist recommends it for your needs and your plan or assessment supports it. Sleep Sophie is a registered NDIS provider (provider number 4050070896), and we'll prepare the quote and product information your OT or plan manager needs. The funding body makes the final decision.

What warranty does it come with?

The Sophie Maxx is backed by our warranty. Call us on 1300 9 SLEEP and we'll take you through the details.

How much does the Sophie Maxx cost?

We quote the Maxx by size. Enquire below or call 1300 9 SLEEP for a price on any size, from Long Single to King, with free delivery anywhere in Australia.
