Back pains are probably the most common health problem faced by many, across the globe. Contrary to popular belief, back pain can be faced by people of all age groups. There are many reasons that may cause lower back pain, with posture being the most common reason. Bad posture or even sitting for too long can immensely increase the pressure on the lower back resulting in unbearable pain. Exercise regimes and injury are other common reasons. While each one of us, at some point in life, may suffer from lower back pain it is important to take immediate action to prevent and cure it. Ignoring or prolonging care will not only increase the pain but may also lead to further damage. Lower back pain can restrict mobility and make it impossible to carry out even the simplest of necessary chores. It’s important to first determine the cause of your back pain and then take necessary action.
Adjustable beds for back pain
Adjustable beds can adjust to the specific needs of the user. Using an adjustable bed when suffering from chronic back pain is highly recommended as it can help you find the right position and posture that reduces the pressure and enhances your comfort. Sleeping with the bed slightly inclined releases pressure from the spine and supports the body for a night of enhanced sleep. This position may also improve the blood circulation that in turn can better the condition by reducing inflammation or soreness of damaged tissues of the affected area. While using pillows to incline may seem like a good idea, this can cause further damage as the position cannot be controlled while sleeping. An adjustable bed is thus a more effective and long term solution to ease and may even help to reduce or eliminate back pain.
Adjustable beds enhance mobility
When experiencing back pain it often effects the sufferers’ ability to simply move around. Getting up or lying down on a bed may also increase the pain. An adjustable bed can help solve this problem. With an inclined position, the user can get in and out of bed more easily without causing undue pressure on their back. An adjustable bed has helped many people relieve back pain and enjoy a good sleep thus making it a great investment for one’s health and life. Back pain can cause havoc to normal routines and an adjustable bed can help you avoid that.
The shortest and simplest answer to that question is, YES! Yes, adjustable beds can have headboards and in most cases will fit inside your current bed frame, although some small alterations may be required. Many people prefer having an adjustable bed with a headboard, while others prefer to keep their bed frame. Because the range of Sophie Adjustable Beds have been designed to fit seamlessly into most decors, you may opt to have no headboard or bed frame at all. An adjustable bed moves up and down from the end where the headboard is, however, this in no way restricts the movement or compromises its use. All you need is an adjustable bed base that allows you to attach a headboard. The range of Sophie Adjustable Beds have included headboard adaptors, making attaching a headboard a very simple and easy process. Fitting our Adjustable Beds into an existing bed frame can be a little more involved. A lot of bed frames have support bars that encroach on the area occupied by the electric adjustable base. These support bars are typically designed to support a mattress, which is the most common use for bed frames. By simply removing these support bars or any slats, the adjustable bed can simply fit directly into the bed frame. As the bed frame doesn’t support any weight, removing these support bars has little to no effect on the structural integrity of the bed frame. If your bed frame is a high value or family heirloom, it is recommended you engage a suitably qualified tradesperson to make any adjustments.
In independent scientific trials, it was found that body positions achievable by using an adjustable bed can significantly assist with Sleep Apnea. The scientific trials showed that thoracic (upper body) elevations of greater than 30 degrees significantly improved the sleep quality of Sleep Apnea sufferers.
Sleep Apnea is a common disorder faced by many across the country. It is responsible for many thousands of lost sleep hours every single night here in Australia. It’s a condition where the air passage is obstructed during sleep causing snoring, or restricted breathing and even results in periods of no breathing at all.
While most Sleep Apnea sufferers are usually diagnosed by their partners, due to the impact it has on their own sleep (loud snoring etc), it is actually the sufferer that is at greatest risk. Recent research into Sleep Apnea has shown it can increase your risk of recurrent heart attack, stroke and abnormal heartbeats, such as atrial fibrillation, type 2 diabetes and liver issues.
Many diagnosed sufferers will be advised to wear a CPAP mask during sleep, however, these can be very uncomfortable, loud and hard to get used too. This is why more and more sufferers are turning to adjustable beds to help eleviate symptoms of Obstructive Sleep Apnea, Central Sleep Apnea or Complex Sleep Apnea syndrome.
Whether they help you or not, they will definitely help your partner! Jokes aside, adjustable beds may be the perfect solution to minimise and even completely stop snoring. Snoring is caused by many reasons with constricted airways, Sleep Apnea and overweight being the most common. An adjustable bed, with a head elevation over 30 degrees, allows your body to be in such a position that your airways are not restricted, which may allow for a snore-free night. Adjustable beds are no longer restricted to just hospitals, as they are rapidly making their way into people’s homes, with everyone from elite athletes through to our beloved seniors.
Hello Adjustable Beds; Bye Bye Snoring!
Snoring is probably the most common problem that disturbs sleep for many. While there may be many people giving you different advice, the most effective solution may be using an adjustable bed. In fact, adjustable beds offer benefits to relieve, many other common problems that disturb sleep, like Acid Reflux, acidity or heartburn, sleep apnea, lower back pains, and other joint pains and even better mental health. An adjustable bed may also help to improve the blood circulation in the body, thereby reducing common aches and pains. This also improves ones overall health and negates problems such as exhaustion and stress. Bad posture through the day and even while sleeping is another cause for many health problems. With an adjustable bed you can control your posture and ensure there’s no negative impact. So yes, adjustable beds can be extremely helpful for avoiding snoring along with many other health and sleep benefits. Adjustable beds can greatly enhance one’s sleep patterns and routines. People using adjustable beds are known to sleep better and wake up more refreshed. Don’t let snoring get in the way of your or other’s sleep!
If you or your loved one currently suffers from any of the following health ailments such as broken and restless sleep, back pain, sinus, cold and hot feet, swelling in legs, neck, shoulder, hip or knee pain, reflux, arthritis, asthma, reduced mobility, hiatus hernia, diabetes, sleep apnea, fatigue during the day, fibromyalgia, fluid retention, stress and anxiety, or/ and respiratory problems, then you should definitely consider chatting with one of our adjustable bed specialists about how the Sophie range of Premium Adjustable Beds may be able to help.
Absolutely not, you can go on using your current bedsheets both fitted and flat. One of the many benefits of purchasing an adjustable bed from Sophie is that making the bed is so much easier!
Simply put your bed in the TV position, meaning you can fit your bottom fitted sheet without bending all the way over, once all the corners are in place, by simply selecting the flat button, the bed will make itself!
With our Split Systems, you will go on using the same top sheet and blankets/doonas, however, you will find it much better to use fitted sheets for the individual bases. So for the Dual King, you would use 2 x Long Single (92 x 203cm) fitted sheets, whereas, with our Split Queen you would use 2 x Split Queen (77cm x 203cm) fitted sheets.
Make sure you speak with your adjustable bed specialist about the best bedding solution for your needs.
Kindly note, 2 x King Singles DOES NOT make a King size bed. Many of our customers make this mistake after purchasing a Dual King system, then go out and purchase ‘King Single’ fitted sheets, only to discover, they are too wide.
Our adjustable beds come pre-assembled and require about 10% of assembly in the home. Assembly requirements include attachment of bed legs, mattress retainer bars and plugging the adjustable bed into a power outlet. For someone who has never assembled one of our adjustable beds before, this whole process will take less than 30 minutes per base, which excludes removing any existing bed or bed frame.
As all our prices include both delivery and installation, you can sit back and relax while our team of adjustable bed installers take care of everything for you.
Here's What Our Customers Have To Say...
Why Choose Sleep Sophie?
When it comes to our primary needs for a healthy, happy and high-quality life, sleep is just as important as oxygen and hydration. It’s the time when our bodies regenerate, cellular turnover is at its peak, and our memories and new things learnt that day are reinforced and retained.
So how does it feel when we don’t get enough sleep?
When you haven’t had enough sufficient rest, you can end up feeling foggy, drowsy and irritable — with effects that can be disruptive to say the least. In fact, new mothers state sleep deprivation is one of the least manageable aspects when having a new baby. Extensive sleep loss can lead to mood changes, inability to concentrate, a lowered general feeling of happiness and a negatively impacted immune system. If not treated long term, it can end up causing irreparable negative physical and emotional effects on our bodies and minds — making it harder to concentrate and focus during the day, and impacting the quality of our lives.
Sophie Adjustable beds can take your sleepless nights and restless days, and transform your sleep into something that dreams are made of. Our adjustable beds, complete with a luxurious tri-layer gel-infused memory foam mattress, can help alleviate physical ailments such as back pain, leg cramps and shoulder pain, assist with conditions such as sleep apnea, arthritis, hip or knee pain and fluid retention, and even help with respiratory conditions, sufferers of restless legs, Fibromyalgia, snoring and reflux just to name a few.
Our versatile adjustable beds offer you the ability to make your bedroom your sanctuary again and have been professed by customers all over Australia to have saved their sleep. Sophie Adjustable Beds offer the functionality to choose independent head and foot elevations, luxurious whole body or targeted vibration massage therapy and preset bed positions. When it comes to adjustable beds, Sophie Adjustable Beds is Queen and King all rolled into one! Our Adjustable Beds bring a combination of features and benefits that rival even the most expensive custom-built European sleep system.
